Meet Congressman Marsha Blackburn

On Friday, October 1st, Rutherford County welcomes U.S. Congressman Marsha Blackburn at a campaign event for Mike Sparks, candidate for State House, 49th District.

Congressman Blackburn, a conservative, results-oriented legislator, represents the 7th District of Tennessee, which stretches from the suburbs of Memphis to Nashville. She serves as Deputy Whip and works to shape American fiscal policy as a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. A staunch supporter of the Patriot Act, she is a committed advocate for pro-life policy, and is dedicated to preserving the traditional institution of marriage.

Congressman Blackburn first won elective office in 1998 when she was elected to the Tennessee State Senate. While serving there, she led the statewide grassroots campaign to defeat the proposed state income tax.
