Invitation to Legislature 101 & 102

The Rutherford County Republican Party invites you to attend Legislature 101 & 102, a grassroots orientation covering the Tennessee legislative process. The workshop is a collaborative effort of the Tennessee Tea Party and 9-12 Project Rutherford County, in partnership with the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, Tennessee Eagle Forum, Tennessee Tax Revolt, Tennessee Legislative Watch, and Family Action Council of Tennessee.


The Rutherford County Republican Party invites you to attend Legislature 101 & 102, a grassroots orientation covering the Tennessee legislative process. The workshop is a collaborative effort of the Tennessee Tea Party and 9-12 Project Rutherford County, in partnership with the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, Tennessee Eagle Forum, Tennessee Tax Revolt, Tennessee Legislative Watch, and Family Action Council of Tennessee. The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 2nd, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites at 325 N. Thompson Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.  Legislature 101 & 102 will provide valuable information and training on how to operate within the state legislative system as a grassroots citizen lobbyist.
 
Instructors include: former Tennessee State Rep. Susan Lynn; Tennessee Eagle Forum President Bobbie Patray; Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Justin Owen; Family Action Council of Tennessee President and former State Senator David Fowler; and Tennessee Tax Revolt President Ben Cunningham. The speakers will cover topics ranging from: how to communicate with policymakers; how to engage the media through letters to the editor, opinion articles, and radio interviews; introduction to lobbying; effective grassroots organizing; and a two-part in depth overview of the legislative process.

In a bonus session, on Thursday March 31st from 6pm to 8pm, Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey will present his portion of the Legislature 102 class at the Rutherford County Courthouse in Murfreesboro.  Lt. Gov. Ramsey will provide us with an overview of the legislative agenda for the 107th General Assembly.  This event is free and open to the public.
