The election season is upon us. For the first time, the Republican Party of Rutherford County has a candidate for every partisan election for county, state and federal office this year. It is time to make a statement and change the direction of our country at every level. No office is insignificant-they each affect your life.

The upcoming election on August 5, 2010 is approaching quickly. Early voting runs from July 16 through July 31, 2010. For early voting locations and times, please see http://www.rutherfordcountytn.gov/election/ and click on early voting locations and sample ballot.

Many people ask what I can do. How can I make a difference?

Get involved with your time, treasure and talents. Now is the time to get involved. This county needs and requires people to rise up and give of themselves to create the future we desire for tomorrow.

So, how do I get involved?

Here are some easy ways to start: Think in terms of issues that tug at your heart and decide to make a difference. Find a candidate that represents your views and support him by voting early, contributing financially to the campaign, putting up a yard sign, volunteering, putting up a yard sign, making phone calls, displaying bumper stickers, and/or talk to your friends and family. Be a person of influence to those you know in the county. Every aspect of a campaign is important and requires volunteers.

Remember that voting is a privilege and a responsibility. More than 3.5 billion people in the world today do not have the right to vote for their leaders. It is an honor many fought for and a responsibility to all of us to be involved.
