The 2010 GOP Picnic Breaks Attendance Record!

With over 500 in attendance, our annual picnic broke all known attendance records. We had 34 candidates in attendance. Chairman Jimmy Evans emceed the event and Slick Pig provided the delicious BBQ, potato salad, coleslaw and chips. The first annual “Dessert Auction” was fun as elected officials made desserts to be sold to raise funds.

Support Our Troops

Rutherford County has contributed its men and women to serve our country all over the globe. We honor their service and support their efforts. We encourage every citizen to thank a soldier or veteran today. Without their selfless sacrifice we would not have the freedoms that we hold dear. May God bless each and every former and active duty American soldier and their families that support them while they serve our country.

Staying Connected

Republicans have always been very social, but like the rest of America we’ve recently discovered the power of digital social media. Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube are services we will use to inform you of our events, alerts and principles. We all like getting together but sometimes life is just too busy to have a barbeque every day, so we’ll tweet, post and update our status regularly.

Tea Party Movement

Controversy. Enlightenment. Courage. Those are some of the words used to describe what is known as the Tea Party movement. Some have accused Republicans of co-oping this movement. Tea Partiers are too independent to be co-oped. We understand that—but welcome any and all that want smaller government, traditional values and the Constitution to be the law of the land. We welcome all and need your input and help.

Volunteer Spotlight

A native of Kentucky, Judi Brown, began volunteering for the Republican Party in Missouri in the 1970’s. Thrilled and inspired by his early radio addresses, she worked tirelessly for Ronald Reagan’s campaign for President while living in Iowa. Today, Judi volunteers one day each week at the Rutherford GOP HQs. Thanks, Judi!

Rutherford Republican Caucus

On Thursday, March 4th, Rutherford County Republicans gathered to hold the County’s first Delegated County Caucus. They filled the interior of the historic courthouse with over 330 people for the largest political event in recent memory. The overflow crowd filled both floors of the Commission Room, the side meeting room and the hall.

Our Growing and Historic County

Rutherford County is one of America’s fastest growing and most historic counties. Home of Nissan Manufacturing, Middle Tennessee State University, the Stones River Battlefield, and where Davy Crockett and Sam Houston began their political careers as young legislators when Murfreesboro was the capital of Tennessee.

We the People, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. As Republicans we hold these truths to be self-evident and promote and defend them at every level.

New Website Launch

Launching a new website is a challenging, but fun process. Over the past several months we’ve worked diligently on providing the vital info we believe citizens need to get informed and inspired about the political issues in our county. From where to vote to what Republicans believe about the serious issues of the day—we’ve tried to leave nothing out!

There is a tendency, this time of year as we endure the “dog days of summer”, to want to rest. Yes, rest is important. Rest is often essential. But, relative to the future of Rutherford County, the State of Tennessee and Our Nation, we must not rest now.

Early Voting August 2010 Election
As early voting comes to a close, the numbers continue to climb. During this election cycle, early voting has seen a constant and steady stream of voters at most locations. Interest in the contest is at a pinnacle with critical primary races for Governor and the 6th Congressional District coupled with many contested county wide seats. The enthusiasm by the voters has been reported to be 3 to 1 selecting a Republican ballot during early voting.
